These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”, “Terms and Conditions”) govern your relationship with (the “Service”) operated by HOST THE EVENT (“us”, “we”, or “our”).

By visiting our site and/or hiring our Set(s) (“Item”, “Material”, “Sets”), you engage in our “Service” and agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions, including those additional terms and conditions and policies referenced herein or available by hyperlink. These Terms apply to all users of the site, including without limitation users who are browsers, vendors, customers, and/or contributors of content.

Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all visitors, users and others who access or use the Service.

a) Terms of Hire

1. All Items and material used to fulfil a customers order remain the property of HOST THE EVENT and are available on a hire basis only through this platform.

2. You must be over 18 and in possession of a valid ID and credit card to book our service. Failure to provide Identification if requested for verification, or fully adhere to our terms of service will result in a cancelled booking (see Clause D “CANCELLATION POLICY”.)

3. All of our Sets will be professionally cleaned, sanitised and delivered ready to use, however the use of our service is at your own risk and HOST THE EVENT shall not be held liable for any health-related complaints associated with any item. We understand you may want to re-rinse before use, so please use only luke warm water, NO abrasive materials and a soft cloth to dry. Any scratches will be considered damage.
When packing the sets for return, please ensure all pieces of debris are removed from the plates, and any liquid or juices are drained away. Our sets require care when cleaning, so please do not attempt to wash up on our behalf.

4. HOST THE EVENT will arrange delivery and collection of the Set(s) to your specified address through our preferred supplier. We will notify you of delivery ahead of schedule by email or SMS/WhatsApp where possible. A valid and secure delivery address for receipt of goods must be provided, meaning a location where an individual can physically receive the goods. Failure to provide such information may result in a delay to your set delivery or additional fees, for which HOST THE EVENT will not be held liable. HOST THE EVENT does not bear liability for goods left unattended. We will arrange collection of the goods on the next working day after your event, unless otherwise specified by us. We will notify you of the collection date ahead of time.

5. All hire items must be repacked in their own respective boxes and packaging, within the original courier box. Please ensure that all items are returned in their original wrapping, as per the instruction sheet delivered with your order.

6. By renting a Set or Sets from HOST THE EVENT, you agree that it is for a legitimate purpose and not to engage in unfair and/or illegal business activities.

You agree to treat all items with great care, and understand that you are responsible for loss, destruction or damage to any and all items due to theft, mysterious disappearance, fire, major stains or any other cause, other than normal wear and tear. Normal wear and tear encompasses minor stains (linens), scratches (crockery or cutlery) that are easily and inexpensively repaired. If you return an item that is damaged outside of these parameters, you agree to be charged for the price for repairing or replacing the item, up to the 150% Retail Value and as set our in Clause E (“DAMAGED OR BROKEN ITEMS”). As per Clause C, “PAYMENT & DEPOSIT”, charges in this regard shall be deducted from your Refundable Deposit.

Should the customer commit a breach of the terms and conditions, HOST THE EVENT retains the right, without prejudice, to all and or any additional remedies in law to:

• Claim return of goods/materials supplied.

• Retain any monies already paid by the customer under the terms and conditions already stated.

• Seek to claim full reimbursement for any non-returned items or sets.


b) Payment & Deposit

We accept payments online via our payment portal, Peach Payments. Once we have received your Rental payment, it will be considered as an acceptance of our service agreement, at which point this will legally bind you the Hirer to all the Terms and Conditions stipulated.

We require a Refundable Deposit to secure your order, and will be held to cover any loss or damaged to our items. In agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you acknowledge that you as the customer are liable for any such charge.

Refundable Deposit payments will be taken 7 days prior to the event. A payment request will be generated by HOST THE EVENT via our payment portal with Peach Payments, and sent to the customer. Any deposits not paid up to five (5) days prior to your event date will be considered a cancelled order, and subject to our cancellation policy terms (“CANCELLATION POLICY“).

For each Set (4pax) hired, a Refundable Deposit of R1000 will be payable, to be held against any loss or damage of the items hired. We reserve the right to increase a deposit amount at any time.

Deposits will be refunded in full on the day of receipt of goods back to HOST THE EVENT, provided goods are received in full and in working condition. Please refer to the “DAMAGED AND BROKEN ITEMS” clause for claim procedures.


c) Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your rental order subject to the following cancellation fees and policies:

•Thirty (30) days or more in advance of the event date – a full refund will be issued.

•Twenty Nine (29) days to fourteen (14) days in advance of the event date – you will receive a full credit to your HOST THE EVENT account for the Rental Fee paid. This credit can be applied to any future booking (once only).

•Fourteen (14) days or less prior to the event date – we are unable to accept notifications of cancellation during this period. A 100% cancellation fee will apply.

For cancellations, please notify HOST THE EVENT as soon as possible on or call 076 905 8461 stating your booking reference number.


d) Damaged or Broken Items

Should any accidents occur at your event and an item be broken or damaged, please send us a photo and report to or by WhatsApp on 076 905 8461 and we will discuss the procedure with you. HOST THE EVENT is entitled to inspect the hired goods on return of the order for any loss or damaged incurred and not reported.

Your deposit covers the loss or damage to any items whilst in your use or because of incorrect packaging on return. If all goods are returned in order, your deposit will be refunded on the day we receive the hired goods back.

Any damage or loss of hired materials while in use by the customer will be charged for 150% of the retail value of said item and will be deducted from your deposit payment.

Both you and HOST THE EVENT agree that in the event of any dispute between us, we will first contact the other party and make a good faith sustained effort to resolve the dispute before resorting to more formal means of resolution. 

Likewise, in the unlikely event that there is a broken item in your box on receipt, please call us immediately. We will courier a replacement item to you within 24 hours (or same day for Cape Town orders where possible).


e) Late Fees & Non-Return of Goods

All items hired are the property of HOST THE EVENT, up to and including the protective packaging and courier box. Non-return of any or all items will result in a breach of these Terms and Conditions.

We will arrange for courier collection of the goods on the next working day after your event, unless otherwise specified by us. If the courier is unable to collect due to your absence, you will be liable for a late fee of R1000 per set, per day. You agree to pay such late fees, up to an amount not to exceed 150% of the total Retail Value.

The late fee is payable for each Set (4pax) that is not returned when due. If you have not returned a Set within 5 (five) days after the return date for the Set, your late return will be considered a non-return and you will be charged the balance of value, less any late fees and deposits that you have already paid. If we are unable to charge your payment card, we reserve the right to proceed with debt collection in a lawful and constitutional manner.

The Customer will be responsible for any and all relevant costs incurred in retrieving outstanding payments.


f) Security of Credit Card Details

Credit card transactions will be acquired for HOST THE EVENT via Peach Payments (Pty) Ltd. Peach Payments uses the strictest form of encryption, namely secure (PCI Level 1 Compliant) networks and servers to store and encrypt personal information. No credit card details are stored on this website. Users may visit Peach Payments to view their privacy and security policy.

The private information required for executing the orders placed through the e-commerce facility, namely the User’s personal information and credit card details, delivery address and telephone numbers will be kept in the strictest confidence by the Provider and not sold or made known to third parties. Only the necessary information, that is the delivery address, collection address and contact phone number will be made known to third parties delivering the Sets.

g) Accuracy of Information

The majority of our ceramics are handmade and therefore items may differ within the range. These are not flaws, but unique signatures that reflect the handmade process. We have made every effort to display as accurately as possible the colours and design of our items as they appear on our website. We cannot guarantee that your computer monitor’s display of any colour will be accurate.

h) Prohibited Uses

In addition to other prohibitions as set forth in these Terms of Conditions, you are prohibited from using the site or its content: (a) for any unlawful purpose; (b) to solicit others to perform or participate in any unlawful acts; (c) to violate any South African regulations, rules, laws, or local ordinances; (d) to infringe upon or violate our intellectual property rights or the intellectual property rights of others; (e) to harass, abuse, insult, harm, defame, slander, disparage, intimidate, or discriminate based on gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, race, age, national origin, or disability; (f) to submit false or misleading information; (g) to upload or transmit viruses or any other type of malicious code that will or may be used in any way that will affect the functionality or operation of the Service or of any related website, other websites, or the Internet; (h) to collect or track the personal information of others; (i) to spam, phish, pharm, pretext, spider, crawl, or scrape; (j) for any obscene or immoral purpose; or (k) to interfere with or circumvent the security features of the Service or any related website, other websites, or the Internet. We reserve the right to terminate your use of the Service for violating any of the prohibited uses.

i) Disclaimer

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel your order at any time for certain reasons including but not limited to: product or service availability, errors in the description or price of the product or service, error in your order or other reasons.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel your order if fraud or an unauthorised or illegal transaction is suspected.

We reserve the right, but are not obligated, to limit the hire of our Sets to any person, geographic region or jurisdiction. We may exercise this right on a case-by-case basis. We reserve the right to limit the quantities of any services that we offer.

Prices for our Sets are subject to change without notice.

All descriptions of items, sets and pricing are subject to change at anytime without notice, at the sole discretion of us. We reserve the right to discontinue any Set or individual item contained within at any time. Any offer for any Set or Service made on this site is void where prohibited.

You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any portion of the Service, use of the Service, or access to the Service or any contact on the website through which the service is provided, without express written permission by us.

j) Limitation of Liability

We do not guarantee, represent or warrant that your use of our service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free.

You agree that from time to time we may remove the service for indefinite periods of time or cancel the service at any time, without notice to you.

You expressly agree that your use of, or inability to use, the service is at your sole risk. The Service and all items delivered to you through the Service are (except as expressly stated by us) provided ‘as is’ and ‘as available’ for your use, without any representation, warranties or conditions of any kind.

You represent and warrant that: (i) you have the legal right to use any credit card(s) or other payment method(s) in connection with any Service; and that (ii) the information you supply to us is true, correct and complete.

By submitting such information, you grant us the right to provide the information to third parties for purposes of facilitating the completion of this Service.

k) Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions and our relationship and/or any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms and Conditions shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Your continued use of the Website will constitute your consent and submission to the jurisdiction of the South African courts regarding all proceedings, transactions, applications or the like instituted by either party against the other, arising from any of these Terms and Conditions.

In the event of any dispute arising between you and HOST THE EVENT, you hereby consent to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the High Court of the Republic of South Africa (Western Cape Division, Cape Town) notwithstanding that the quantum in the action or proceedings may otherwise fall below the monetary jurisdiction of that court.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to update, change or replace any part of these Terms & Conditions by posting updates and changes to our website. It is your responsibility to check our website periodically for changes. Your continued use of or access to our website or the Service following the posting of any changes to these Terms & Conditions constitutes acceptance of those changes.
